1. About Us
These terms apply to electrical work carried out by DM Electrotechnical Services Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), an electrical contractor based in Swanley, Kent, serving London and Kent. DM Electrotechnical Services Ltd is a company registered in England & Wales, company number 17251066, with its registered office at 114 Northview, Swanley BR8 7BH. You can contact us on 07535 810812 or 01322 515210, or by email at dan@dmelectrotechnicalservicesltd.co.uk.
2. Quotes
All quotes are free of charge and fixed-price. The quoted price covers the work described in the quote. If additional work is discovered once the job is underway (for example, hidden faults or damage), we will always discuss it with you and agree any extra cost before carrying out additional work.
Quotes are valid for 30 days unless we tell you otherwise. We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
3. Booking and Deposits
For most smaller jobs no deposit is required — you pay on completion. For larger jobs we may ask for a booking deposit of 25% of the quoted price, with the balance due on completion. Deposits paid online are processed securely by Worldpay.
4. Payment
Payment is due on completion of the work unless we've agreed otherwise in writing. We accept card payments (processed securely by Worldpay), bank transfer, and cash. Clearpay is available on quotes up to £1,000 and Klarna finance on larger jobs — both subject to status and approval by those providers, under their own terms.
If an invoice remains unpaid after its due date, we may charge statutory interest and reasonable recovery costs under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 for business customers.
5. Cancellations and Your Cooling-Off Rights
If you're a consumer and you agreed the work away from our premises (for example, by phone, WhatsApp or at your home), you normally have a 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, during which you can cancel without charge.
If you ask us to start work within the cooling-off period and then cancel, you'll only pay for the work completed and materials used up to the point of cancellation. Emergency call-outs requested urgently are treated as work you've asked us to begin immediately.
To cancel or rearrange a booking, call 07535 810812 or email us as soon as possible.
6. Our Work and Certification
All work is carried out with reasonable care and skill to BS 7671 (the IET Wiring Regulations) and, where applicable, Part P of the Building Regulations. We are NAPIT registered, and notifiable work is certified and notified to Building Control through our NAPIT registration.
If something isn't right with our workmanship, tell us as soon as possible and we'll come back and put it right. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
7. Access and Site Conditions
You agree to give us reasonable access to the property at the agreed times and to let us know about anything relevant to the work (such as known faults, asbestos, or restricted access). Where furniture or belongings need moving to reach the work area, we'll take reasonable care, but we recommend moving fragile or valuable items before we arrive.
8. Liability
We carry appropriate insurance for the work we do. We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, faults in existing installations we did not work on, or delays caused by events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Complaints
If you're unhappy with anything, contact us first on 07535 810812 or at dan@dmelectrotechnicalservicesltd.co.uk — we take complaints seriously and will work with you to put things right. As a NAPIT-registered business, our notifiable work is also covered by NAPIT's consumer protection arrangements.
10. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
